LuAnn Palazzo 022

"I photographed this apparition in November 2010 at the Day of the Dead Parade in Tucson, AZ. It was my first time attending and it was an hours-long procession full of ethereal costumes and beautiful, inventive makeup. This was the last soul we encountered on our walk back through the streets to our car. He was huge and he didn’t make a sound – he just floated slowly around us. I swear I didn’t hear one footfall. I found him the most chilling experience of all."

  1. The memento I sent was a piece of gauze that was shed from his costume...
